Under the framework of the new Research Seminar Series co-organised by ETHNICGOODS and IBEI, on Monday the 24th of January, Prof. Matthias Koenig (University of Heidelberg) will present his article on Norm Emergence in nascent world polity. Specifically, his talk will be dedicated to explaining the slow-moving social processes in which religious rights have emerged in international law over the long 19th century.

Matthias Koenig holds the Chair for Empirical Macrosociology at the Max-Weber-Institute for Sociology of Heidelberg University. His research interests focus on empirical macrosociology, in particular the interplay of global and local dynamics of institutional and cultural change. His current research addresses governance of cultural diversity in global comparative perspective, combining time series analyses of international and constitutional minority rights with case studies on judicial politics of religious difference.

His seminar will be chaired by Emre Amasyalı (Postdoctoral Research Fellow at ETHNICGOODS).
